Theme: THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PASSOVER

Text: “Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.” – Isaiah 26:20.

Comment: Of the entire plagues of Egypt, that of the killing of the first born was the most devastating. To this, Pharaoh reacted, “And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, and get you forth from among my people, both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve the LORD, as ye have said.” (Exodus 12:31) The death of the firstborn is a prophetic picture of the destruction of this world, also known as “Egypt” (Isaiah 31:1; Revelation 11:8) Pharaoh represents Satan, the “god of this world”. (2 Corinthians 4:4) Surely, the Battle of the Great Day of God Almighty will spell doom for the antitypical Egypt. All who have entered into God’s pavilion should abide in her, and not seek to be entangled again with the affairs of a decaying world. – Psalm 91:1; Hebrews 10:26; 2 Peter 2:20-22.
