Theme: Casting All Our Burden On The Lord

Text: “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint”. – Luke 18:1.

Comment: Prayer is the channel through which we unburden our worries and anxieties to God. The Holy Bible tells us that God hears prayers. (Psalm 65:1, 2). That God has not answered our prayer concerning our needs should not make us become tired of praying to Him. While narrating the parable of the importunate widow who continued in her request to the unjust judge until she was attended to, Jesus Christ gave the object lesson in this wise: “And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily.” He added: “Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?”. Luke 18:7, 8.

On what to do about things that cause us worry and anxiety, St Paul admonishing Christians said: “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don’t forget to thank him for his answers. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus” –  Philipians 4:6, 7, Living Bible.

What is expected of us is to give ourselves to the continual doing of righteousness as God listens to the cry (worry or anxiety) of the righteous and grants them succour by answering their needs.  Psalm 34:15,17,19.
