Theme: Guiding Against Despair
Text: “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” – Hebrews 11:6.
Comment: Faith is an important tool to guide against despair. St Paul stated: “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” (2 Corinthians 5:7) Instances abound in the Bible of men and women who showed their faith by what they did and “by it the elders obtained a good report.” (Hebrews 11:2) It is by faith through the grace of God, we can overcome the temptations of the devil. (Ephesians 6:16) Therefore, faith in God, which is absolute confidence and total dependence in the power, Providence and Almightiness of God is an indispensable quality that will help us guard against despair and serve God acceptably till the end and be saved by His grace. – 2 Corinthians 4:8,9.
