Text: “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, if ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” – John 8:31, 32.
Comment: The truth, which is the word of God as contained in the Holy Scriptures, gives spiritual sanctification, edification and salvation. “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” (John 17:17; 15:3) The truth has the power to reform a man’s life from bad to good, worse to better and to set him free from sin and its consequences including death. (John 8:36; 2 Thessalonians 2:10, 13; 1 Timothy 2:3, 4) Jesus Christ is the truth of God’s word personified without which no man will be saved. (John 14:6) As Christians or followers of Jesus Christ, therefore, we must be equipped with the true knowledge of the truth and as Christ emphasised in the leading text, we must endeavour to continue steadfastly in the truth so as to be blessed and saved by God.
