Theme: THE SIGNICANCE OF THE NAMES AND TITLES OF GOD ALMIGHTY

Text: “Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them.” – Ecclesiastes 12:1.

Comment:  God Almighty is the One Who has created all things and is thus fittingly called the Creator. All other beings are His creatures.  In Isaiah 44:24 it is written: “Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself.” (See also Psalm 146:5, 6)  His creative ability is evidence of His infinite wisdom and power. – Jeremiah 10:12.

In the text for today, King Solomon enjoins us to give reverence to our Creator, in the days of our youth, meaning that many do not do so. Instead of worshipping God many there are who “worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator”. (Romans 1:25).David the prophet declared: “Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves…” (Psalm 100:3, 4)

Youths who distinguished themselves in the service of God in their youth include Joseph, (Genesis 39:1-9); Samuel (1 Samuel 2:18; 3:19-21); David, (1 Samuel 16:12,13,18; Psalm 71:17,18) Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego  (Daniel 1:17) The youths are exhorted by King Solomon to avoid the exuberances that bring sorrow to the heart and to put away evil (sin) from their flesh “for childhood and youth are vanity”. – Ecclesiastes 11:10.
