Theme: RECEIVING THE KINGDOM OF GOD AS A LITTLE CHILD
Text: “For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the Scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.” – Matthew 5:20.
Comment: The message conveyed in the declaration of Jesus Christ above is sincerity. It has to do with honesty of mind or intention, freedom from simulation, hypocrisy, disguise and the practise of God’s righteousness. (Romans 10:1-3) The greatest teacher of all times upbraided the hypocritical attitude of false religionists in his days on earth. Only a child-like simplicity can measure up to the standard expected of God’s worshippers. St. Paul terms it “godly sincerity”. (2 Corinthians 1:12; Joshua 24:14) Children express things the way they see them. This way, where they are wrong or may have little understanding about a particular subject matter, they are then enlightened. This is what God, through His servants, have consistently demanded from us. See 1 Chronicles 28:9; Jeremiah 17:10.
