Theme: THE PENNY REWARD
Text: “So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.” – Matthew 20:8.
Comment: In the context of this parable, the “even”, which is an old way of saying “evening”, refers to the age of the end of the world when God Almighty will judge the world in righteousness and render to everyone according to their works. The erudite apostle, Paul states that God: “…will render to every man according to his deeds”. (Romans 2: 6) St. Paul further advised: “So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.” (Romans 14:12) We need to be diligent and dutiful in God’s service as the “payday” is fast approaching. “For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name…And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” – Hebrews 6:10-12.
