Theme: God Does Not Forsake His People

Text: “Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good”. – Proverbs 19:2.

Comment: He, the “God of truth”, having disclosed His precepts to His children through His servants, (Amos 3:7) expects that they retain them. As stated by Jesus Christ, the “Living waters”, spiritual blindness (which is ignorance of the revealed truth) is worse than the literal because it leads to damnation (Isaiah 9:16; Matthew 15:14) in that knowledge of God and of His only begotten Son, as well as other body of knowledge that make up the Holy Scriptures, are very essential for life eternal – Proverbs 9:10,11; 8:11,12,34-36; John 17:3.

When the king of Assyria brought people from other lands to inhabit the land of Israel after sending the Israelites into exile, wild animals started attacking the strangers in the land because they were not keeping the laws of God, “they know not the manner of the God of the land”. By way of intervention, the king commanded that a priest from among the Israelites who were exiled, be appointed to return to Samaria, “and let him teach them the manner of the God of the land.”

Unfortunately, instead of serving God Almighty alone, the people indulged in mixed worship. – 2 Kings 17:23-33. The Almighty God through the prophet Hosea declared, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee”. This should not be the case with us, by God’s grace.
