Theme: IT IS A GOOD THING TO GIVE THANKS UNTO THE LORD
Text: “Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king’s matter.” – Daniel 2:20, 23.
Comment: Having revealed to His servant, Daniel, the dream of Nebuchadnezzar, as well as its interpretation, the prophet of God made the declaration as captured in today’s devotional, in acknowledgment of the infinitude of the wisdom of the All-wise and Sovereign King of the universe. It is on record that, even the Chaldeans admitted no human can reveal such interpretation. (Daniel 2:10, 11) It is sad to note that some find it unnecessary to attribute their successes to the Father of lights, from whom proceeds “Every good gift and every perfect gift”. (James 1:17; Jeremiah 9:23, 24) It is evident therefore, that our expression of gratitude to the King Eternal, Immortal, Invisible and only wise God, is by extension, our acknowledgment of our insufficiency, limitation and total dependence on Him. – 2 Corinthians 3:5, 6.
