Theme: BUILDING ON THE FOUNDATION
Text: “I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love.” – Ephesians 4:1, 2.
Comment: Those who have been called to do the work of God should do so with diligence, faith and sincerity of purpose. It is by so doing they would be walking worthy of God. They should not be deterred by the antics of the devil knowing that no one can uproot the Lord’s planting nor can any, including the devil, pluck us out of the hand of the Almighty Father by His grace. Our Saviour assures us thus: “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.” (John 10:27-29) It is by cultivating the qualities of humility, patience and steadfastness that we would be making full use of the opportunity God has afforded us to be called into His established Kingdom on earth in this age of Christ’s second presence. We should not slacken our hold on God’s sure foundation due to trials and temptations, and lose all we have done. Rather, those already in the truth should prove themselves worthy of the call by continuance in doing of good works till the end so as to be saved. Certainly, there is no alternative to God and His Kingdom. – Mark 8:35, 36; 2 Corinthians 6; Matthew 24:12-13.
