Theme: IT IS A GOOD THING TO GIVE THANKS UNTO THE LORD
Text: “O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Who giveth food to all flesh: for his mercy endureth for ever.” – Psalm 136:1, 25.
Comment: King David, the Sweet Psalmist of Israel recounts the goodness and mercies of God and specifically acknowledges God’s gracious provisions. Indeed, God loads us with His benefits, on a daily basis. (Psalm 68:19) These range from provision of our daily bread (both spiritual, and literal), miraculous deliverance, healing, forgiveness of our sins, sustenance in His path of truth, and even blessings we may not be aware of. (Psalm 36:7-10) It is smack of sheer arrogance, for anyone to ascribe his attainments to the work of own hands, forgetting that, “except the Lord build the house they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain” – Psalm 127:1; 62:10; Proverbs 3:5-9.
