Theme: THE DANGER OF TALE BEARING AND RASH JUDGMENT

Text: “A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.” – Matthew 12:35-37.

Comment: As Christians, every word we speak should be such that brings peace and progress to our fellow humans and the Church. We should rather spend time talking about the right things instead of discussing about persons. When we engage in such frivolous discussions, we pass wrong judgements on issues, some of which are even sacred, thereby incurring God’s anger. Christ said, that we should not judge according to appearance, but we should judge righteously. (John 7:24) King Solomon in Proverbs 18:21 declared “Death and Life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” As those who love life (everlasting life) which God Almighty has promised the faithful, let us shun talebearing and gossiping and let us engage in discussions that will promote the welfare of others and the Church by God’s grace.
