Text: “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us.” – 1 John 5:14.
Comment: In as much as we have various desires and wants, it is important that we know that not everything we request from God will be granted. JEHOVAH the Almighty God is All-Knowing, hence we should submit ourselves to His will. St. Paul gave his account when he prayed to God for healing concerning his ailment. “For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” (2 Corinthians 12:8, 9) Before his arrest and crucifixion, Christ submitted himself to the will of God. (Matthew 26:42, 44) “He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done. And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.”
