Theme: THE PURPOSE OF MAN ON EARTH
Text: “For the LORD shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.” – Isaiah 51:3.
Comment: The Holy Bible clearly shows that after God created man through His Creative Agent, the LOGOS, He planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put man whom He had formed. (Genesis 2:8) The LORD caused trees pleasant to the eyes and good for food to grow in the garden and a river went out of Eden to water the beautiful garden which parted into four heads. These rivers were sources of mineral resources like gold, bdellium and onyx stone for man. The purpose of God for man was for him to dress the garden. There was food of all kinds for man to eat and be healthy. (Genesis 2:9-11) But the simple instruction given to man not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil which he could not obey made man lose this paradisaic environment. The purpose of God must be fulfilled hence this Paradise that was lost would be regained, in perfect peace and happiness as highlighted in today’s key text. (See Isaiah 61:13) Let us labour to enter into that Paradise by God’s grace. – Hebrews 4:1, 2, 8-11.
