Text: “And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this: For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue.” – Luke 7:4, 5.
Comment: There are profound benefits in doing the work of God. (Proverbs 11:19) While in Capernaum, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ was approached by the elders on behalf of a centurion with a request to grant divine healing to his servant “who was dear unto him, was sick and ready to die.” Jesus Christ was impressed by the positive remarks made concerning him, for he had before that time, associated himself with the course of righteousness to the point of even providing a place of worship for the people of God. In addition, was his outstanding show of humility not minding his position in the Roman empire as a leader of a hundred soldiers, in not allowing our Master, Jesus Christ to come under his roof because he felt he was not worthy to play host to Christ. He went on to confirm the approval of the good works of the centurion by granting his servant healing. (Luke 7:1-10) We as worshippers of God should be steady in our individual resolve not to be weary in well doing. – Galatians 6:9, 10; 2 John 8.
