Text: “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord”. – Ephesians 5:19.
Comment: Every worshipper of God can always find joy in songs. Even though one may not be gifted or have some inhibitions in expressing oneself verbally, our feelings towards God can be free when we voice them in songs. St. Paul indicated how we can find joy in singing praises when he admonished Christians as in the leading text. When our hearts are filled with spiritual thoughts, we find powerful expressions in songs. Instances of this include the song of thanksgiving and sigh of relief expressed by the Prophet Moses and the Israelites after crossing the Red Sea (Exodus 15:1-21); the women who welcomed David after his defeat of Goliath (1 Samuel 18:6, 7). Thus, music in the service of God radiates joy, gladness and a good heart condition in the sight of God. – Psalm 104:33, 34; 146:2, 5.
