Text: “In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:18.
Comment: The inspired writers of the Bible often express the idea of “giving thanks”, just as the erudite Apostle Paul wrote to the Thessalonians in the text for today. We should learn to give thanks to God first and appreciate our fellow beings. And when we say ‘Thank You’ it should come from the heart both in words and in deeds. The leading text emphasizes the fact that to be grateful to the Almighty God through His Son Jesus Christ in all circumstances – whether good or bad – is the will of God. (Ephesians 5:20) It is evidence of spiritual maturity, understanding and faith in the Almightiness of God. The Psalmist declared: “I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” – Psalm 34:1; Job 1:20- 22.
