Theme: THE GOLDEN RULE

Text: “Owe no man anything, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.” – Romans 13:8.

Comment: The problems mankind is facing in the world today, are because of lack of love.  People, due to lack of faith in God and at the instigation of the devil, are extremely wicked to themselves.   One who loves his brother will not do anything harmful to him.  The citation for today continues thus: “For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.”  To treat another person as we would like to be treated means that we should not be neglectful of the problems of others but would make it a habit to try to place ourselves in the shoes of the other person, to try to feel what he is going through, and to want to end his distressful state.   God Almighty directed the Jews to treat the strangers who dwelt among them as themselves. “But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.” (Leviticus 19:34) As St. Paul said we should strive to “abound in love one toward another, and toward all men”. – 1Thessalonians 3:12.
