Text: “He will arbitrate among the nations, and dictate to strong nations far away. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks; nations shall no longer fight each other, for all war will end. There will be universal peace, and all the military academies and training camps will be closed down.” – Micah 4:3 (Living Bible).
Comment: It is ironic how, while giving lip service to the search for world peace, a substantial amount of money is being expended in developing improved versions of destructive weapons. How then can world peace be attained when, in reality, nations of the world are increasing their defence budgets, amassing nuclear stockpiles, and strengthening their defense systems, building a more “compact and modern fighting force”? Christ has assured us of such peace when we cleave to him. “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27) However, as stated in the text for today, God has promised mankind perfect peace through His Son Jesus Christ in His Kingdom fully established by His grace. – Revelation 21:1-5; Isaiah 32:17, 18, etc.
