Theme: WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A CHRISTIAN
Text: “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.” – 1 Peter 5:6.
Comment: Apostle Peter in the text under reference, talks about humility which is a virtue in the life of a Christian. Humility helps to develop our interaction with others and also influences how one perceives himself and the people around one. Being humble implies that we recognise the fact that we are totally dependent on God and that without Him, we cannot do anything in our lives or even have our being. Scripture says: “By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honour and life.” (Proverbs 22:4) For one to be humble, he should not see himself better than others. The Holy Bible says: “Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.” – 1 Peter 5:5; Philippians 2:5-11.
