Theme: FORGIVENESS

Text: “But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.” – Galatians 3:23-25.

Comment: In the Mosaic law, it is stated: “…life for life, Eye for eye, tooth for tooth…” (Exodus 21:23-25) Such law, which was a schoolmaster, leaving little or no room for repentance or forgiveness, ended at Christ’s coming. “For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.” (Romans 10:4)  His precious blood shed for remission of our sins puts an end to animal sacrifices (Hebrews 9:22; 10:18); and gives knowledge of salvation unto his people, by the remission of their sins (Luke 1:77) “Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.” – Acts 13:38, 39.
