Theme: FORGIVENESS

Text: “Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.” – Colossians 3:12, 13.

Comment: It is very difficult for the human nature to forgive wrongs, but when one’s mind has been nurtured and groomed in the “school of Christ” “through sanctification of the Holy Spirit (1 Peter 1:2), it possesses the fruits of the Spirit. (Galatians 5:22, 23) Such minds acquire the requisite capacity to exercise those qualities enunciated in the text for today – ‘bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering’; all of which, invariably, put one in a good stead for ‘Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another’: such would no longer mind the things of the flesh, but the things of the Spirit. (Romans 8:4, 5) In his epistle to the Galatian Christians, Saint Paul advised: “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit”- Galatians 5:25.
