Theme: LORD, TO WHOM SHALL WE GO?

Text: “Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged. Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law…” – Isaiah 51:1, 7.

Comment: It is hard to understand how a nation, specifically chosen as God’s own people, (Psalm 33:12) and graven upon the palm of God’s hands, (Isaiah 49:16) become prey to enemy nations who were no match for them because of God’s favour on them. At a time of national distress occasioned by servitude under Babylon, the prophet of God, Isaiah, was inspired by God Almighty to give a message of hope, encouragement and comfort to his fellow compatriots. Their being in exile was not the issue, but their deviation from the living God brought upon them avoidable troubles. Bible understanding informs us that there is no alternative to God and Christ, irrespective of Satan’s devices to make us derail. “As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, the LORD shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity: but peace shall be upon Israel.” – Psalm 125:5.
