Theme: BE YE DOERS OF THE WORD

Text: “And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.” – Luke 1:6.

Comment: In the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias who officiated in the course of Abia and his wife whose name was Elizabeth, of the daughters of Aaron, kept the laws of God and were both righteous before God.  They had a challenge. They had no child because Elizabeth was barren and they were both stricken in years. During Zacharias’s officiation in the temple, an angel of the Lord appeared to him and said: “… for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elizabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.”  True to the words of the angel, when he returned home, his wife became pregnant and she delivered of a son, named John. (Luke 1:5-57) From the story, it is clear that keeping the laws and ordinances of God attracts His blessings.  “He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.” – Psalm 145:19.
