Theme: BE YE THANKFUL

Text: “Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.” – Job 1:20, 21.

Comment: Trials and temptations that happen to us are attempts by the devil to truncate, derail, or hinder our faith in God and weaken our resolve to serve Him faithfully in the way of truth. The example of Job as expressed in the text for today teaches us to be grateful to God even in unpleasant circumstances. In the midst of his travails, Job acknowledged God and was grateful to Him. We should exercise faith in God and give glory to Him in all circumstances with the understanding that a worse situation had been averted by God. (Romans 8:28) Apostle Paul exhorts: “No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5: 18 – Living Bible) The Psalmist declared: “I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.”- Psalm 34:1.
