Theme: KEEP THY HEART WITH ALL DILIGENCE
Text: “For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.” – Isaiah 14:13, 14.
Comment: Inordinate ambition was one of the things that led to the fall of Lucifer who later became known with such ominous names as Devil, Satan, Dragon and Serpent. (Revelation 12:9) He said in his heart that he would be like the Most High (God Almighty). While he nursed this evil thought in his heart, God saw it and passed His judgment on him which resulted in losing his position in heaven and was cast down to this earth. (Isaiah 14:12-19; Ezekiel 28:12-19) The destruction of Satan the devil by God through Jesus Christ is just a question of time. (Romans 16:20; Revelation 20:1-3, 7-9) We should guard against inordinate ambition of striving for positions of authority in the work of God. Nursing such thoughts in our hearts runs contrary to the will of God, “Who rules in the kingdom of men and giveth it to whomsoever he wills.” – Daniel 4:32; Psalm 75:6, 7.
