Theme: The Love of Money

Text: “Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.” – Hosea 4: 1, 2.

Comment: It is the love for money that makes people reduce themselves to the vice of stealing, and at worst, cut short the life of others, even after stealing from them, with little or no resistance. The erudite apostle of Christ had earlier warned that in this age, evil men shall wax worse and worse, prioritizing their personal pleasures, lacking in natural affection, and loving to be high-minded, etc. (2 Timothy 3:1-5) Christian converts should not be envious of, or hold in admiration, the prosperity of the wicked which is but for a moment. (Psalm 37:7; 73:1-5,16-19; Ecclesiastes 8:11-13) Let the people of God refrain from evil and serve God in truth and righteousness so as to be saved in the end by His grace.
