Theme: THE POWER OF PRAYER

Text: “But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer” – 1 Peter 4:7.

Comment: Physical facts and fulfilling Bible prophecies clearly show that we are now living in an era or epoch known as the last days. An age when the devil has been cast down to the earth “having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time”. – 2 Corinthians 4:4; Revelation 12:12.

Worshippers of God should “watch” by studying the Bible to understand the signs of the times and prayerfully meditate upon its words by the grace of God. Jesus Christ warned: “And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.” Luke 21:34-36.

We must form the habit of praying always, particularly in this sin-ridden and dangerous age in which we are living. Jesus Christ in a parable taught “that men ought always to pray, and not to faint”. (Luke 18:1-8) And St. Paul exhorted: “Pray without ceasing.” (1Thessalonians 5:17) David declared, “Praise is due to thee, O God, in Zion; and to thee shall vows be performed, O thou who hearest prayer! To thee shall all flesh come.” – Psalm 65:1, 2 (Revised Standard Version)
