Text: “Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.” – Ephesians 6:16.
Comment: In our text of study today, Apostle Paul elucidates or throws more light on what constitutes the whole amour of God with which a Christian can wage the war and withstand the attacks of the enemies. A soldier may have all the weapons necessary to launch an effective attack on the enemy, but he must not lose sight of his protective device. The enemy always looks for areas the child of God is weak and will want to strike. (2 Corinthians 2:11; 1 John 2:15-17). To this end, he touched on the point of defence. And so, there is the need for a follower of Jesus Christ to be fully armed with both offensive and defensive weapons. St. Paul declared: “But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation”. – 1 Thessalonians 5:8
