Theme: OBJECT LELSSONS FROM THE LIFE AND EPISTLES OF ST. PAUL

Text: “I have shewed you all things, how that so laboring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, it is more blessed to give than to receive.” – Acts 20:35.

Comment: One of the virtues displayed by Paul, the apostle was charity. As the text for today exhorts, Saint Paul was charitable especially to the needy and challenged. He declared: “Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do.” (Galatians 2:10) Writing to the Christians at Thessalonica, he stated: “Neither did we eat any man’s bread for naught; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you.” (2 Thessalonians 3:8)He did not lord himself over the flock, but was enterprising, in order to attend to his welfare, as well as those with him. (Acts 18:1-3) And the blessings of God are sure for those who emulate this godly virtue by His grace. Christ said: “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” – Luke 6:38.
