Theme: WE SHALL ALL REAP WHAT WE SOW

Text: “Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth and thy want as an armed man.” – Proverbs 6:10, 11.

Comment: Those who give themselves to laziness, loving to sleep and lazing about all day are also sowing by their actions. Some young persons with strength and agility would wake up in the morning, eat and watch movies all day. Some prefer to visit relaxation spots where they drink and chat with friends throughout the day. Such persons do not want to task themselves mentally by securing a job to make them meaningfully engaged and gainfully employed so as to save for their future. The repercussion for this easy lifestyle is poverty in future as there will be nothing to fall back on as one grows older. King Solomon advised such persons to learn object lessons from the lifestyle of the ants which work all day to save for the future. (Proverbs 6:6-9) Furthermore, King Solomon said: “He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich. He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.” – Proverbs 10:4, 5; Proverbs 13:4.
