Theme: AVOIDING AND OVERCOMING ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOURS

Text: “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.” – 2 Corinthians 13:5, 6.

Comment: The Christian faith has clear standards by which  a believer, is judged. Any one who cannot deny himself for the kingdom’s sake is reprobate that is, cannot pass the test, as he would be like pure metal that had been mixed with impure ones. Such ones would be called reprobate silver “because the LORD hath rejected them”. (Jeremiah 6:30)  In order to help him cope with his negative urges, one needs to identify the issues that are out of control. Then, the victim has to follow a plan of action, starting first with the priority issues. Then he should proceed with the other issues until they all have been addressed.  Moreover, he should be watching out for situations which could lead to a relapse of out-of-control behaviors,  especially, if one is feeling hungry, angry, lonely, tired.  These sacrifices to become better persons are vital for us to live up to the Lord’s standards required by Christ. “Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin…” (Romans 6:6, 7; Galatians 5:24) Moses exhorted: “Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.”  – Deuteronomy 4:6
