Text: “Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners”. – 1 Corinthians 15: 33.
Comment: St. Paul is advising us to be cautious about the company or association we surround ourselves with as such could make or mar one. He emphasized the importance of choosing companions who will uplift and encourage us in our faith and moral values, rather than leading us astray. King Solomon says: “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.” (Proverbs 13:20) Similarly, in Psalm 1: 1, 2, it is written: “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night”. See also Proverbs 22:24, 25.
