Theme: GODLINESS WITH CONTENTMENT IS GREAT GAIN

Text: “…Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.” – Luke 12:15.

Comment: In the text for today, Christ admonished Christians to beware of greed and that there is no gain in amassing stupendous wealth when at the end there will be nothing to show for it.  Our Lord and Master then went on to give a parable of a certain rich man who had so much goods in his farm. He thought within himself and decided to build a bigger store where he will keep all his farm produce.  The rich fool forgot to give the praises to God.  He said to himself: “…Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.  But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?  So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.” (Luke 12:16-21) Whatever God has blessed us with, whether spiritually, materially, financially and otherwise, we should use them to the glory and praise of His Holy Name. – Proverbs 3:5-7.
