Text: “Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord”. – Romans 12:11
Comment: Having been bought by Christ’s precious blood, we are duty bound to do “The good works of our God that give peace to the mind”, in that, he “gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.” (Titus 2:14)The loins being girded, shoes on their feet, staff in their hand, and the eating of the Passover meal in haste, as commanded in chapter 12 verse 11 of the book of Exodus depict zeal, willingness, preparedness to do the Lord’s will. Literally, it describes the haste with which they commenced their exodus from Egyptian servitude. In enumerating sundry components of the spiritual armour, Apostle Paul wrote: “Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.” – Ephesians 6:14-16.
