Text: “Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.” – Hebrews 10:38, 39.
Comment: Some worshippers due to the trials and temptations they undergo, lose their first love and zeal in the service of God. This is not good enough. Concerning the Church at Ephesus, one of the seven Churches in Asia Minor, Scriptures say: “Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.” (Revelation 2:4, 5) After Apostle Peter had enumerated the virtues required of Christians to serve God steadfastly to the end, he added: “Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.” – 2 Peter 1:5-11; 2:20-22.
