Theme: NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD

Text: “Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised”. – Hebrews 11: 11.

Comment:  The faith, patience and unwavering commitment of Abraham and his wife, Sarah are worthy of commendation. They are good examples for sincere worshippers of God to emulate at all times. Even though Sarah expressed surprise and even laughed when she overheard the angel telling Abraham that she would bare a son by him, her faith was strengthened in God “because she judged him faithful who had promised”.

St. Paul expounding on Abraham’s faith said: “And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.” – Romans 4:19-22.

Rather than run from pillar to post looking for false pastors, “prayer warriors”, miracle workers, witch doctors and visionaries, couples who are yet to have children should exercise faith in God like Sarah and Elizabeth who remained steadfast with their husbands until it pleased the LORD to bless them with children. The Bible says: “He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children.” – Psalm 113:9.
