Theme: THE SANCTITY OF CHRISTIAN MARRIAGE
Text: “But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.” – 1 Corinthians 11:3.
Comment: One very important approach to upholding the sanctity of the marriage union is for the parties to always be mindful of their positions in the union. There was never a time God, Who instituted marriage, indicated that man and woman were equal partners. He, addressing the woman when they sinned said among other things: “and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.” (Genesis 3:16) The married woman must acknowledge the man as her head and give him due respect. (Read Ephesians 5:22-24; 1 Peter 3:1-6; Colossians 3:18) Apostle Peter’s statement to the Christians shows clearly that the man is the head: “Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives”. 1 Peter 3:1.
