Theme: SPIRITUAL KEYS TO HAPPINESS

Text:  “For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves; but these, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves with themselves, are not intelligent.” – 2 Corinthians 10:12 Darby’s Translation

Comment: Each person who is given to doing the righteousness of God according to the Bible should know that he has been placed in honour and is enjoying the love of God. (Psalm 49:12; 33:18) One should love himself the way one is and be contented with what God has given or endowed one with. (1 Timothy 6:6-10). It is very wrong to be comparing oneself negatively with others as such comparisons are based on human standards of measurement or reasoning and lead to dissatisfaction and discontentment. Instead of thanking God for His goodness and benefits one is busy complaining about what one would have liked to look like or to have. See Psalm 103:1. Each person has unique abilities or talents which should enhance one’s self-esteem. St. Paul says: “But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.” (1 Corinthians 7:7) David the prophet declared, “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” (Psalm 139:14) Jesus Christ our Lord related freely with the poor, the weak, the ignorant, the sick, the outcasts of society and made them to feel a powerful sense of belonging in God’s purpose. What God requires of us is good heart condition. We are all precious in His sight. –Jeremiah 17:7, 8; Isaiah 33:15,16.
