Theme: OBJECT LELSSONS FROM THE LIFE AND EPISTLES OF ST. PAUL

Text: “Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.” – Acts 20:28.

Comment: After his resurrection, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, charged St. Peter, “Feed my lambs”, and twice told him, “Feed my sheep”. (John 21:15-17) Afterwards, exhorting leaders in God’s organization, same Apostle Peter declared in 1 Peter 5:2: “Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind”. This was also seen in St. Paul. At a time, he sent Timotheus, a “minister of God, and our fellow labourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith”. “For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.” (1Thessalonians 3:2,5) This quality of caring for the flock and seeking the interest of others are quite worthy of emulation, being acts of love, a mark of true discipleship. – John 13:34,35; 1Corinthians 12:25,26; Hebrews 13:1,3.
