Theme: AVENGE NOT YOURSELVES

Text: “Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive not with thy lips. Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work”. Proverbs 24:28,29.

Comment: In order to satisfy their ungodly quest for vengeance, the ungodly develop plans, that is, devise wicked imaginations against their neighbours. These plans no doubt, might need the assistance or cooperation of others and to get them onboard, the evil schemer would have to convince them, mostly through lies – a lying tongue, a false witness that speaketh lies. By the time the wicked plot is executed, the avenger, would have succeeded in sowing discord between his target and those he coopted into his plot – he that soweth discord among brethren. And because of the wickedness of their hearts, some would go as far as taking the lives of those they take vengeance on – hands that shed innocent blood.

Though these persons may think they are strong and able to always pay back, but the truth is, that those who resort to vengeance are weak and ignorant of the goodness of God.

True Christians are open minded, accommodating, forgiving and they do not speak evil of each other. Apostle Paul, writing to Titus, enjoined him to admonish the Church, including you and I, to speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men. – Titus 3:2.
