Comment: The reading of the law of God during the celebration of the Feast of Tabernacles to the hearing and understanding of the people is very important because of the sanctifying effect the law was capable of having on the people.  Jesus Christ attested to the cleansing effect of the word of God when he said: “Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.” (John 15:3; 17:17; Ephesians 5:26) David the Psalmist wrote: “Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to thy word.” (Psalm 119:9) Let us therefore prepare our hearts as Ezra, the scribe did “to seek the law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.” – Ezra 7:10.
