Theme: THE SIN OF DISOBEDIENCE

Text: “They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.” – Titus 1:16.

Comment: In the world today, some who profess the Christian faith and claim to be worshippers of God are disobedient and are opposed to the truth as attested to by St Paul in the text for today. Such ones prefer to listen to lies preached under the cover of prosperity, breakthrough, and deliverance by false pastors. St Paul spoke on this when he said: “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” (2 Timothy 4:3, 4 see also Isaiah 30:9,10) The Bible gives the understanding that disobedience to the words of God in time of old brought instant punishment on the natural Jews; but disobedience to the gospel of salvation results in even worse punishment in this age. Hebrews 2:1-3; 10:26-29.

Ultimately, those who refuse to obey the truth (Gospel of Salvation) will be damned or go to everlasting destruction.  Let us continue to be prayerful for God to inspire us to obey His word always so as to continually enjoy His favours. “Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.”  – Philippians 2:12.
