Theme: Fruits of the Spirit

Text: “And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance, and to temperance patience, and to patience godliness.” – 2 Peter 1:5, 6.

Comment: Patience is the capacity to tolerate delay, problems, or suffering without becoming annoyed or anxious. Jesus Christ recommended it for all sincere and humble worshippers of God when he said: “In your patience possess ye your souls.” (Luke 21:19) God’s promise of blessing His people with everlasting life in His Kingdom is only attainable on the individual’s level of patience. (Hebrews 10:35,36) Abraham and Job were servants of God who exhibited great deal of patience. On Abraham, Apostle Paul said, “And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.” (Hebrews 6:13-15) Regarding the inimitable Job, James the apostle wrote: “Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord, that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.” – James 5:11.
