Theme: WHY DO THE WICKED PROSPER AND LIVE LONG?
Text: “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” – 2 Peter 3:9.
Comment: If God is to instantly kill everyone who sins, not a single soul among the descendants of Adam will remain on earth because they are all sinners. (Psalm 51:5; Romans 3:23) So, in order to redeem man from sin, God sent His only begotten Son Jesus Christ as a ransom to deliver mankind from sin and death. The Psalmist said: “If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.” (Psalm 130:3, 4) The reason why God allows wicked people to live is to give them time to realise their faults and repent of their sins so as to be saved. See Job 33:27-30; Ezekiel 18:21-23.
