Theme: DANIEL AND THE THREE FAITHFUL JEWS

Text: “Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king, He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.” – Daniel 3:24, 25.

Comment: The miraculous deliverance of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego from death in a burning fiery furnace is a familiar story in the Bible. What was more astonishing to King Nebuchadnezzar, apart from the fact that the fire had no effect on their bodies, was that he saw a fourth man whom he identified as the Son of God walking in the midst of the fire. Indeed, God Almighty sent Jesus Christ in his pre-human days to deliver the three faithful Jews. This incidence further gives assurance to the people of God of His power to deliver in times of danger as King Nebuchadnezzar himself acknowledged.(Daniel 3:28, 29) The Pslamist declared: “The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.” – Psalm 34:7, 8. See also 2 Timothy 4:18; 2 Peter 2:9.
