Theme: CULTIVATING FRUITFUL RELATIONSHIP WITH ONE ANOTHER

Text: “Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.”- Philippians 2:3.

Comment: In this text, St Paul admonished Christians to prevent doing things that will outstrip or outdo others through rivalry, superiority and boasting about their talents and strength. There is no righteousness in such efforts and is contrary to the principle of humility, Jesus Christ instructed us to practice.(John 13:4-17). Furthermore, the erudite apostle stated in Galatians 5:26: “Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another”. Rather we should submit ourselves one to another in the fear of God. (Ephesians 5:21) Also St. Peter advised:“Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.”- 1 Peter 5:5.
