Theme: THE POWER OF KNOWLEDGE

Text: “But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”   – 2 Timothy 3:14,15.

Comment: Anyone who trusts or follows the religious teachings or opinions of men rather than the truth – the wholesome word of God – is certain to remain in spiritual darkness. Such ones would ultimately go to everlasting destruction, unless they repent thoroughly.  (Psalm 146:3, 4; Hosea 4:6) “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent … hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.” (1 Corinthians 1:18-21) It is the Bible, the greatest storehouse of knowledge, that one should depend on for accurate knowledge of God. To Joshua, God said: “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” (Joshua 1:8)  Those who have the knowledge of the law of God will not walk in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stand in the way of sinners nor sit in the seat of the scornful. – Psalm 1:1.
