Text: “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” – Colossians 3:16.
Comment: In every Christian fellowship, singing plays a prominent role in true worship. Jesus Christ and his Apostles sang together after the evening meal just before his death. (Mark 14:26) In prison, Paul and Silas sang aloud so that all could hear. (Acts 16:25) Apart from his charge in today’s text, Apostle Paul also encourages fellow believers to sing songs of praise to God. “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord”. (Ephesians 5:19) We should not feel shy or ashamed of making melody to the LORD, but get involved in “singing with grace” from our hearts during devotions, service meetings and assemblies of the Church in praise of the Almighty God.
