Theme: BUILDING UP YOURSELVES ON YOUR MOST HOLY FAITH

Text: “Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way. Stablish thy word unto thy servant, who is devoted to thy fear.” – Psalm 119:37, 38.

Comment: David, the prophet of God, identified the “lust of the eyes” as carnality which will hinder the spiritual development of a person and in the end prevents such one from the kingdom of God. (1 Corinthians 6:9,10) Unfortunately, many people fail to acknowledge the relevance of this prayer by the prophet of God, and the reason for this error is Satan’s overbearing influence as the “god of this world”. (2 Corinthians 4:2-4) He entices people to destruction through vanity fairs expressed in beauty pageants, movies, dramas, magazines, novels and other types of writings with explicit scenes. Jesus Christ warned against improper use of the eyes. (See Matthew 5:27, 28) The lust of the eyes is one of “the things that are in the world” which are not of God. Let us, therefore, shun the lust of the eyes as we build ourselves on our most holy faith by God’s grace. – 1 John 2:15-17.
